Key Aims of the Project

The project aims to assess the impact of individual SRB funded projects on the health of local communities and to recommend ways in which projects can be most health enhancing.

The specific aims of this project are to:

  • Develop and implement a health impact assessment process for application across the programmes and projects funded by SRB6
  • Provide support to projects funded by SRB6 to integrate HIA and evaluation processes into their planning
  • Ensure that SRB6 project managers consider the health implications of their projects.
  • Develop and disseminate locally applicable HIA tools

We will conduct HIA’s on each of the four SRB6 themes, for completion by March 2004. The themes are;

  • Area-based regeneration
  • Jobs & Economy
  • Skills & Training
  • Community Development, Safety & Health

This project has also brought together a group of representatives from Local Authorities, community groups, SRB6 projects, Area Assemblies, PCT and LSP’s to develop a locally applicable HIA tool for use primarily in the Rotherham area. This tool will be available shortly by registering using the Resources page of this site.
